We had such a great experience with Melanie for our PADI Advanced Open Water certification. She’s passionate about diving and her teaching approach is very professional. We did the training before going on a liveaboard and it was perfect. Thanks for everything!

Mel is the most patient and caring instructor.she took my grandchildren with tank on their backs for the first time.They had never had used tanks on backs before. They fell in love with diving and want to learn when they get older.Thanks Mel for showing my grandchildren a new experience of there life.. your amazing

very fun time learning to dive with octopus dive and seeing the wildlife in the lakes was amazing. even getting to clean up rubbish as we went was a bonus. definitly recommend octopus dive.

Mel was hands down the best SCUBA dive trainer I’ve had! And I’ve had many. I completed Adv OW and Rescue Diver with Octopus Dive last year. The experience was second to none. Mel and her partner Fred are dedicated to their student’s learning and give clear and logical instruction. Mel also taught my CPR course, and did a great job of that too. Highly recommended.

We had the best time ever with Octupus dive! The whole day was amazing. Mel picked us up in the morning for our scuba diving session in the lake. After the dives we had hot coffee and ginger cookies, we stopped at Gallos to buy some chocolates and on the way back we tried to spot platypus in Yungaburra! It felt like we were on a road trip! I totally recommend it, can’t wait to go back!

Melanie was an amazing instructor and really helped throughout all dives and a great person just to chat with. Would 100% do it again qnd again.

I arrived in Far North Queensland with a relatively narrow window for scuba diving and Mel made it work perfectly. She is very flexible and we did a refresher course in her pool (although she is happy to come to your pool if it suits, or take you to a lake). We then went for a lovely day of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Mel sorted all the logistics and everything for me. She’s a wonderful teacher and great company. If I ever come back to Queensland I’d love to dive with her again.

Would Highly recommend Mel to anyone. She is an excellent instructor and great with Kids, Kirby Loved learning to dive with you and can't stop talking about it.

I did my diving course will Melanie from octopus dive for my job and I can say I was really impressed, she is a wonderful person with a bubbly attitude and her training was amazing, she just wants you to succeed and will help you in anyway she can, I would highly recommend anyone looking to do their diving courses in Cairns to go and have a chat with Melanie from octopus dive she's a legend

So happy we found Melanie at Octopus Dive!!! Completely professional experience getting my kids (ages 12&14) Open Water certified. We traveled to Cairns from The Netherlands for their in-person training, but she was a great communicator long before that, as we made our plans and the boys took the online portion of the course. She even held a zoom session with them to review what they had learned so far and to ensure all our expectations were in-sync. Once we met her in-person, she really began to exceed expectations! As a teacher she is equal parts serious and fun and developed such a great rapport with the kids. She was patient and kind, firm and fair. Melanie even acted as a bit of a tour guide, pointing out sights along routes to and from dive sites and even took us for a hike to see a platypus in the wild. She is just so genuinely kind and fun! We are already planning a trip back next year to further the kids’ (and parents’) training with Octopus Dive. It was that good!
