This nationally recognized, Lead Snorkelling Activities course (SISOSNK002) is delivered by PADI Asia Pacific Pty Ltd (RTO #6729) and provides you with the skills and knowledge to lead and supervise snorkeling activities in a safe and enjoyable manner.

SISOSNK002 OVERVIEW

The Lead Snorkelling Activities course (SISOSNK002) equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively lead and supervise snorkelling activities in a variety of settings. The course covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Snorkelling techniques and instruction.
  • Pre-trip planning and risk assessment.
  • Supervising snorkelling activities.
  • Managing emergencies.


The course is designed for leaders who work in a variety of settings, including commercial, not-for-profit, and government organizations. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a statement of attainment in SISOSNK002 Lead snorkelling activities.

SISOSNK002 typically lasts 1 or 2 days but we are flexible in tailoring the course to your needs and schedule.

This course is only available for Australian residents or citizens. Unfortunately, student visa holders are not eligible to apply.

 

You need to be 18+ years old.

 

You need to have SISOSNK001 Snorkel Statement of Attainment, PADI Skin Diver (Advanced Snorkeller) or PADI Freediver, or qualifying certification and/or experience in snorkelling skills (We provide this training as well).

 

You also need EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months or First Aid qualification HLTAID011 in accordance with the local regulations.

Participants in the Lead Snorkelling Activities course will develop the following skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrate and instruct snorkelling techniques:
    Capably provide verbal instructions and demonstrations for people of a range ages and capabilities, providing reasons for doing things a certain way.
  • Lead and supervise snorkelling activities according to predetermined activity plans:
    Organise safety, emergency response and first aid procedures for snorkelling activity sessions. Structure clear roles and responsibilities of different activity leaders and support staff with communication protocols.
  • Adjust activities according to prevailing conditions and participant capabilities:
    Identify potential hazards and associated risks, implementing safety procedures and planning designated areas for snorkelling accordingly. Learn how to select appropriate equipment and exposure suits by age, size and weight, snorkeller experience and skill level, fitness and physical capabilities, injuries and medical conditions, and emotional, behavioural or intellectual ability or disability.
  • Manage routine problems and emergencies:
    Understand group dynamics and techniques used to manage positive group dynamics, watching for signs, stages and levels of conflict within groups. Learn techniques used to resolve problems at various stages of escalation.

We provide all the snorkelling equipment required, but you're welcome to bring your own.

Performance evidences

  • Lead snorkelling sessions for a group of participants according to predetermined activity plans.
  • Use different demonstration and instruction techniques.
  • Manage participant adherence to safety procedures.
  • Facilitate a debrief with participants and participate in a team member debrief.
  • Determine activity modifications to suit prevailing conditions and participant capabilities.
  • Respond to immediate safety risks that have arisen during activities and during emergency situations and complete incident reports and report equipment faults.

Skills assessment

Water skills and stamina are assessed, as well as practical workshops that include:

  • Prepare equipment and participants.
  • Brief participants and demonstrate snorkelling techniques.
  • Lead and supervise snorkelling activities.
  • Manage safety during snorkelling activities.
  • Complete post activity responsibilities, incl. debriefing and reports.


Assessment is based on knowledge evidence from the learning material provided.
