Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

HLTAID009

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID010

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Provide first aid

HLTAID011

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. First Aid qualification should be renewed every 3 years.

Provide first aid in an education and care setting

HLTAID012

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This unit of competency may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

Provide first aid in remote or isolated site

HLTAID013

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation. The unit applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

Provide advanced first aid

HLTAID014

This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

HLTAID015

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Please note that HLTAID011 Provide first aid is a prerequisite for HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy.

Manage first aid services and resources

HLTAID016

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace. The unit applies to workers in nominated occupational first aid or management roles.
